Response Question: Life in Redding (p. 113-164)

Tim talks about his family's store, and he says that it was illegal to raise prices. Why would the Connecticut General Assembly want to control prices? Why is money becoming such an issue? What is a commissary note?

The Connecticut General Assembly want to control the prices so they can make the prices go up if they want to to help out with the war. Money is also another issue because the wearing and tearing of the paper money brought the value down. Also The General had made laws on how much you can charge or things and that was another issue. A commissary note wouldn't be anything unless the Rebels Won. Most people buy it is because they want to show that they are strong patriots. Q(*.*Q)

The Connecticut General Assembly needs to be in control of prices just in case they need money for the war, they could easily raise prices. Money is becoming an issue because patriots and the Rebels are starting to pay with commisionary notes which are pieces if papers that won't mean anything it the Rebels don't win.

Connecticut General Assembly wants to control prices so the economy does not spiral out of control, even if the army needs money. Money is becoming an issue because money is needed to run a war without money you have no weapons, clothes, and food. Commissary notes is the form of money for the Patriots. If the war is won by the Patriots then the notes are worth something but if they lose the notes will just be like plain old paper.

The Connecticut General Assembly wanted to control prices because if the war needed money they could raise it so they can contribute to the war. Money was becoming an issue because the wear and tear from the war on paper money lowered the value and because they needed money for weapons and ammo something they did not have. A commissary note was like a way to get money if the rebels won the war.

Connecticut General Assembly has to control the prices so they can make the prices go up if the want to be heard and taken seriously about helping out with the war. Money is becoming a huge isuue because it would'n't make any sence if the Rebels dont have a victory.
